Im Soy Free

Buy Soy-Free Mayonnaise

Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich - Photo McAlister's Deli

Try as I might, I just don't enjoy sandwiches without mayo!

When I first went soy-free years ago, I couldn’t seem to find soy-free mayo anywhere.  So, I was eating dry sandwiches.  I tried using butter as my bread spread, but I’m sorry, sometimes you just need good old fashioned mayonnaise.  I got desperate and started cheating and ate mayo with soybean oil and I paid the price every single time. Yep, my belly would blow up like a ballon and stay that way for days!

Well, one day a few years back I saw this new product in my grocery story, and when I turned around the bottle to read the label, low and behold there was NO SOY!  It was made with canola oil and pea protein and the brand was Hampton Creek and the name was “Just Mayo.”

I did question the lack of eggs and “pea protein” I saw in the ingredients listing, but I bought it anyway.  When I tasted it, there was a little bit of a texture, but I was satisfied with the “mayo” taste.  It doesn’t taste exactly like mayonnaise with eggs, but I liked it! No more dry sandwiches! I now had soy-free mayonnaise.

Just Mayo was discontinued but happily there are more soy-free mayonnaise options you can buy! Instead of using soybean oil, the brands I’ve included are soy-free and made with canola oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, or avocado oil.

If you can’t find these brands in your local grocery story, you can find them at Whole Foods Market on TargetWalmartInstacart and Amazon’s website.
