So, I’m sharing some veggie-packed comfort food recipes to help carry us through to springtime.

Yep!  You too can eat Chinese food which we well know is normally fried in soy oil – otherwise known as “vegetable oil.”

So, I tried this at a few local Chinese food restaurants near me.  I visited the restaurants at that sweet time when lunch is over and dinner hasn’t started and they are not that busy – typically around 3:30-3:45 p.m. All I had to do was ask for the owner or manager.  I simply explained how much I loved Chinese food, but that I was allergic to vegetable oil (by the way, when I said I was allergic to soy, they kept telling me “No we use vegetable oil, not soy oil” so to keep it simple – I now simply say vegetable oil). I then show them an unopened bottle of canola oil (which costs no more than $3.00) and as ask them to prepare my food – typically vegetable fried rice, lo-mein, egg-rolls, and other stir fry items with my oil.  I have never been told no.

Because I only eat organic meats and wild shrimp, I quickly stir fry my meat or shrimp as soon as a I get home and add it to my hot takeout.

Now, go get your chopsticks…
